RE: Mr Bates vs The Post Office

Repeat showing of the ITV program this week on ITV3 at 9PM for four nights.

RE: 4th of July... Our independence day?

You could not believe this, well you could...

The tories have not won the election yet, nor implemented nation service yet, but have already stated Parents could be fined if children refuse to do national service. Minister of State for Indo-Pacific Anne-Marie Trevelyan refuses to rule out court prosecutions after Rishi Sunak pledges to bring back scheme for 18-year-olds.

Anyway, chances are the tories are out of the game soon.

RE: [VIDEO] Shardlake

Gave me 'The Name of the Rose' vibes with Sean Connery, the film that used the ugliest faces in show business LOL

Maybe this film will beat it, but I think not.

RE: [VIDEO] So... what are you playing just now?

Came across an advert for the PS4 and it mentioned an upgrade version of 'Shadow of the Colossus'. Has a parachute now for dropping from heights without dying in the upgrade and also ways to get to undiscovered/previously impossible to reach areas now.

I still have my PS2 and the original game, so dug it out, and was not disappointed. Only thing is if you know the game, I just cannot bring myself to kill the massive beasts. I get to the kill shot with the sword, feel sorry for them and do not kill and then move onto the next monster using a save point. I might eventually get round to buying a secondhand PS4 and the upgrade version of the game, just to get to these new areas.

RE: 4th of July... Our independence day?

Have to agree that bringing back conscription is the death nell for the conservative party, and they have decided to do this to ensure they get kicked out. They have had enough.

No-one in this modern day wants to see mandatory conscription.

RE: [VIDEO] The All New Doctor Who Thread...

Liked 73 yards very creepy. Again an 8/10.

Think going by the trailer, next weeks is hard core si-fi.

RE: Mr Bates vs The Post Office

My blood was boiling with the Post office inquiry with the 3rd day of former Post office boss Paula Vennells giving evidence.

She was spouting that she knew nothing and cried crocodile tears. If anyone deserves a long prison sentence and her 4 million quid bonus and everything she owns taken off her, she does.

She just sat there knowing full well the Horizon system did not work, and that people were persecuted, lost their livelyhood, sent to jail, given a criminal record, reputations ruined, some even committed suicide.

Lets hope this enquiry leads to sentencing of not just her but all the bosses of the post office found responsible. Rant over.

RE: [VIDEO] The Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare

Really enjoyed this two hour film, a bit like 'the dirty dozen with a stiff upper lip'. Amazed it was on Youtube, so had to watch before it is likely deleted.

Only disappointment with almost all modern films nowadays is the mistake of using too much realism to make a night scene very dark. Older films portrayed night scenes at dusk which showed more light and hence more action which I preferred. Other than that it was very well done.

RE: 4th of July... Our independence day?

Well I am going on holiday to Spain that week so timed it well to give it all a miss. Was not going to vote anyway as all parties are rubbish as our standard of living goes further down the tubes. In fact if this carries on, my next holiday might only get me to Barry Island. Yuck!

RE: [VIDEO] The All New Doctor Who Thread...

Quite liked Boom for the reason of all spoilers above as mentioned by mbilko. Gave it an 8/10.

RE: [VIDEO] The All New Doctor Who Thread...

Give it a chance...

Next episode is called BOOM. Caught in the middle of a devastating war on Kastarion 3, the Doctor is trapped when he steps on a landmine. Can he save himself and Ruby, plus the entire planet... without moving?

RE: [VIDEO] The All New Doctor Who Thread...

There is a Doctor who aftershow for each episode, that was on at midnight and gives 'behind the scenes' information. And on space babies they showed you the technical wizardry to make the babies lips synchronise with the speech using a computer program, which was wasted on me as all I saw on my small screen was lips moving up and down LOL. I got 'alien air lock' vibes at the end of that show expecting Ripely to show up.

I preferred the Beatles episode even though the songs were deliberately mince, through written by a musical expert according to the aftershow, and he said it took 15 seconds to write them. I though the American drag queen was just perfect as the baddie, and put 'her' soul into the performance, and the Doctor and assistant was FAB doing the dance routine at the end.

So 'Space babies' 6/10 and 'The devils chord' 9/10

RE: [VIDEO] The All New Doctor Who Thread...

Well it was different and a lot of energy put into it by the main actors. I preferred the Beatles episode and loved that jivy musical ending LOL.

RE: [VIDEO] The All New Doctor Who Thread...

Not sure how you have already seen the first two episodes, but they are to be shown tonight on BBC1 at 6.20PM for first episode and next episode directly following.

As for musical stuff, that's what made me like this new Doctor and assistant in the Christmas episode, got it on my memory stick and keep watching the scene where they sing to the goblin king. It was Brilliant and so funny LOL.

Talking about goblins, I believe this series will include more fantasy then just the usual Doctor who plots.  I like it already and anticipating a good series ahead.

RE: Lego Star Wars

My worst nightmare....Darth Ja Ja Binks saying "meza going to hurt you" :D

Brilliant !

RE: [VIDEO] Clarkson's farm

I was in the bookshop chain 'The Works' yesterday at a shopping mall and noticed Clarkson coining it in by have a series of books about his Diddly Squat farm, good titles though....Pigs might fly and Till the cows come home. No idea what they are about other than farm themed LOL.

RE: How many browsers do you use?

"I feel seen"......Just checked my cookie cruncher program and I had 400 cookies this month tracking my every move. Horrible! Now been removed for another month.

This happens on my win10 as there seems to be so much more active advertising windows per website. My previous windows win7 got a lot less, as Privacy Badger on Chrome seemed to work ok and reduce the number getting through, but does not work as well on win10. Feel win10 was a backward step.

RE: My Neighbour Totoro Tickets at West End now

I would love to see that as Studio Ghibli Japanese films are brilliant. My favorite is Laputa Floating Island followed by Howls moving castle and Spirted away, and not forgetting Porko Rosso.

RE: [VIDEO] Star Wars: Ahsoka

Just bought Ahsoka Season 1 Region 0 DVD for £13 on Ebay from a seller in Ireland. Been waiting a while for this, but most sales are from far abroad and are region 1. So was glad to find a region free one.

Loved Ahsoka in the clone war series, but notice this live character looks a lot older but that will not put me off. I have not looked at the trailers, so going in blind. Hope its good.

Should get it on star wars day 'May the fourth be with you'

RE: [VIDEO] Deadpool & Wolverine

What a superhero partnership. I am sold on it right now.

RE: [VIDEO] Rebel Moon

Why does that sound like John Hurt in the commentary. Thought he died a while back. Or is it an actor doing a similar voice?

RE: [VIDEO] Trap

Sometimes M. Night Shayamalan films are good and sometimes bad, this could be a good one. Will wait to see other trailers before paying money to see it or just wait a while till I can see it for free.

RE: Liz Truss PM

Was Truss really a PM? It went by in the blink of an eye.

I thought she only took the job during her tea break and cost the country Billions before being booted out of the job.

RE: [VIDEO] Venom

Think the Venom films were trying to compete with the Deadpool videos and not winning on either comedy or violence. But being a si-fi fantasy fan I still watched them all.

RE: How many browsers do you use?

"safari soo goodie"

I was waiting to see who would say this LOL

RE: [VIDEO] The All New Doctor Who Thread...

Agree Sylvester McCoy Years 2 and 3 were good, and so sad to see the classics finished so soon. Ace and the doctor made a really good team.

As for Paul McGann, a highly forgettable TV movie, many fans like me never thought of an EIGHTH doctor, It just never made sense, as Movies and Series were supposed to be separated. Otherwise you would have had to include Peter Cushing fighting the Daleks in his two Doctor movies as having a number, and he never did have one.

But being Doctor Who we accept there are a lot of holes in the plot LOL.

RE: How many browsers do you use?

Been using Chrome for years, though I have noticed my ad blocker 'Privacy badger' is not working as good now that I have moved onto win10, must be more adverts than previous windows. Also a lot more cookies getting through and have to purge about 300 a week with my cookie cruncher program, compared to earlier windows which was say 50 a week.

Chrome has also slowed down as I think win10 keeps Microsoft edge running in the background, and no idea how to switch off Edge completely which is always live telling you weather and news on the task bar with win10.

Find win10 more complex and not as user friendly as previous.

RE: hey did you hear about our old friend OJ Simpson

WoW, this name is a blast from the past.

I remember nothing of the trial, but remember the slowest televised car chase in US history. Was laughing my head off at it.

RE: [VIDEO] The All New Doctor Who Thread...

Blake 7...now that has stirred some memories and I did like the acting in that series. Likely if I watched it again now it would be naff with the cardboard scenery, but at the time it was fine British si-fi.

RE: [VIDEO] The All New Doctor Who Thread...

Peter Davidson years...were OK, but he had far too many assistants for my liking.

Colin Baker years....Never did like that actor, too smamy a smile and very poor scripts over his seasons. Remember hearing he only took on the Doctors role for the money, and going by his acting I am assuming that was true.

My Doctors for the classics was Jon Pertwee, Tom Baker and for some weird reason Sylvester McCoy, maybe because he was the last of the classics and had very interesting scripts and had a quirky style, not forgetting a great assistant called Ace. Like many other Doctor who fans, was sorry when it finished.
