not really, it's like star wars gaalxy of heroes, marvel strike force, raid shadow legends.

you can play and enjoy the game for free, a new character comes out which sometimes there's a free event to unlock, sometimes you need to have other other characters already unlocked to enter the event.

this is where they make their money, you do battles do get equipment for your characters, or you can buy equipment - to get your characters better quicker, you can't actually buy characters though.

so there are people that play these games, without spending a penny. like I'm fine knowing I'll never be 1st place in the arena cos I don't spend money, if someone wants to pay to play then that's fine, they subsidise people like me :)

my guess is not enough whales in the lord of the rings game.
